About Us
Gina Luna-Founder
When my daughter was born, I was committed to teach her Spanish, not only because I am a native speaker but because I wanted to keep the language alive in my home and in her life. It is important to me that my daughter has a connection to her Latino background. I spoke to her only in Spanish so it would be her first language. As she got a little older and was able to speak, I taught her the basics in Spanish. As much as I searched for Spanish apps for my daughter to use, I couldn’t find anything that was simple and basic for her age. Everything was either complicated or for much older children or adults. It was a disappointment. In order to keep teaching my daughter I had to get creative using anything I could find in our home such as blocks and toys to teach her basic concepts like letters, numbers, shapes and colors. I knew I couldn’t be the only Spanish speaking parent with the same desire and struggle in finding a tool to help their younger children learn in their first language. I also knew that for many busy and working parents the ability to teach their children Spanish is a challenge even more so if the children are in a daycare or school being taught in English. It was then that I decided to create an app that would help children learn the basics in Spanish so that many other Latino parents could work towards keeping the language alive in their home ensuring their children have a connection with their culture.
Mission Statement
Connecting Generations
We want to help children learn to speak Spanish at an early age so that they can grow to be culturally aware and have a connection with family members, friends and socialize with everyone around them who speak the same language.
